A Winter Garden

A Winter Garden, Oxford, England www.bluemesablog.com

I love a dormant winter garden, where a few lingering flowers seem all the more vivid against the gloom of a low winter sky. I love the moss and fading ivy, the crunch of frosted grass underfoot, and the silence and stillness. Neglected as these places are when the cold sets in and drives most people indoors, you’ll almost inevitably find yourself wandering alone, and the tranquillity is well worth the chill.

Scenes from Oxford, Barnsely House, Thornbury Castle and Swinton Park.
