A few little springtime raindrops on my garden roses.
These little hands are my favorite. She's always reaching and holding and expressing with them. They never stop moving and exploring, and her vice-like grip is seriously impressive.
I spent all of my childhood summers in this place, an old convent, sitting on the ground beneath the oaks drawing, or up in shady, high-ceilinged rooms painting. Today was sunny and warm, and we lingered by the fountains and in the cool, quiet chapel.
Little one is sick or teething so we've spent lots of time in bed watching films, and today's was 'Call Me By Your Name', which was so sweet and lingering, and brought back startlingly vivid memories of April some six years ago, when I wore my future husband's shirt out into our garden in Venice one morning after a long night spent with the windows thrown open listening to the water lap against the walls outside. I wouldn't go back to that time for anything - there's something so queasy and nerve-wrecking about falling in love, and I've become a pretty big fan of settled domestic bliss - but what an astoundingly beautiful moment in time. . #callmebyyourname #venice #venezia #italianmornings
A little raw selfie and a little raw note about mothering your own way no matter what. It's SO easy to judge how other women mother. I was particularly guilty of this pre-baby and am still guilty of it after. It's that fleeting "I would never let my child do/say/eat/watch/play/take that". Thing is, babies are born little forces of nature with their own habits and personalities and needs. You quickly learn what matters to you. You let go of what doesn't. You balance practicality and safety and ideals constantly, all while trying to form lasting bonds and nurture wonderful humans. Sometimes priorities change, and they're always going to differ from someone else's. We all love our children and are doing our very best for them. Everyone's best looks a little different. We all have our own struggles and joys. Mostly joys. Seriously, babies are glorious. #momtalk
My Cécile Brünner, a delicate little climber. I suspect that in terms of habits, my old age will be virtually indistinguishable from my 20s. Making tea, tending roses, and frequently dancing to Nick Cave, for good measure. #cecilebrunner
